It is difficult to force the physical body to rewrite its habits. There is muscle memory and many processes connected to the neurons in the brain, and they keep you following the usual path. I have developed my own method that helps change certain habits. Perhaps it will work for you too.

To enter a state of neutrality, you must release attachment to outcomes, judgments, and emotional reactions, observing thoughts and feelings without engaging them. Its gift is clarity, inner peace, and the ability to respond wisely rather than react impulsively.

Most people on the planet do not realize that between extremes there exists at least a third option. Noticing this third option and subsequently creating something new is only possible when in a state of neutrality.
