I’m Alena Starovoytova — a spiritual teacher, author, and bilingual translator.
A book that fell off the shelf
About twenty years ago, in a bookstore in Moscow, a small thin book fell off the upper shelf onto me. The cover read «Lemuria and Atlantis». I took it as a sign, and brought the book home with me.
Atlantis didn’t catch me. But Lemuria… I started searching for more. I found an American Lemurian forum where people gathered who remembered their Lemurian incarnations. I met an Australian, Debbie Penny, who had written a book about her memories of the final days before the island of Mu sank. One after another, Lemurian crystals began arriving from across the world — from Jan Casters in the Netherlands, from a woman in Israel charging crystals with the energy of Archangel Uriel. A small yellow crystal, said to hold the energies of the 11th dimension, I carried with me for years — slept with it, passed it to others. People who weren’t «in the field» returned it quickly: too strong. I thrived on it.
That was the start of a path I had never planned.
The light switch in a subway car
In February 2006 I attended a Symoron seminar in Moscow. The trip cost me nearly an entire month’s salary as a schoolteacher. By then Svetlana Vladimirovna Dobrovolskaya and I had thoroughly worked through Vadim Zeland’s Reality Transurfing, but Symoron became precisely the push I had been waiting for.
The method works through playful reframing — you describe the life you want, then prescribe small, often absurd actions that lead you there. My self-assigned exercise: imagine a light switch by the door of a subway car, press it, and step out into a new life when the doors open. Simple in theory. But how many inner blocks had to be confronted to actually do it in front of a carful of strangers?
During the zikrs led by Hayawatha — a group practice of chanting in an unknown language with rotating roles between men and women — I noticed I was leading the men in the dance, not the other way around. Nine years of teaching, single motherhood, surviving on a teacher’s salary had amplified the «invincible warrior» in me. The feminine part had been lost somewhere along the way. I wrote a list of small actions to reawaken her: stop carrying my own suitcase, don’t be the first to leave transport, hold my tongue when I disagree.
And on that same seminar, when asked who I was, I unexpectedly heard myself say: «A teacher. I’ll finish out the last months and step into free swim». In August 2006, I submitted my resignation.
I translated others before becoming myself
Nine years of school teaching ended. Ten years of literary translation began — for the «Sofia» publishing house and other projects at the intersection of metaphysics, psychology, and spiritual practice. From 2006 to 2010 I served as the official representative of Celia Fenn’s Australian project Starchild Global in Russia — translating her work and organizing her seminars. In parallel, I worked as a simultaneous interpreter for Steve Rother, Pepper Lewis, Celia Fenn, and other Western teachers for Russian-speaking audiences.
From March 2007 through May 2012 I ran an authored newsletter on Subscribe.ru — about five years of regular publishing at the meeting point of spiritual practice and Western teaching. From 2009 through 2010, together with Larisa Artamonova, we ran the joint project Spiritual Tools.
A meeting in Riga
On 19–21 April 2011 I worked as a simultaneous interpreter at the Kryon Conference in Riga. There I met Maris — he came from a different world entirely, not an «esoteric», but a man of practice with a cool head. A few weeks later, in May, he came to visit me in Oryol. On 6 August 2011 we married.
That meeting let me hear from outside what I already knew inside.
«Pour all your energy into your own project»
In the spring of 2012 there was a conflict with one of the teachers whose seminars I had been translating. Maris said: «Pour all your energy into your own project».
In my personal stories I describe it like this: «with Maris’s persistent push, I stopped working with all the channels and stopped translating».
That was the turning point. I stopped translating others. I left joint projects. I disconnected from outside channels. The final Subscribe.ru issue went out on 15 May 2012. From that moment forward, all of my work has been one project alone — «Keys of Mastery».
The translation work of the previous decade didn’t disappear. It transferred into the texture of my own writing: ten years of working with meaning across two languages shaped the precision and care for words now visible in every article on «Keys of Mastery».
«Keys of Mastery» — origin
October 2010. I was studying with Alex Ivanhoe in his legendary «Webinar Tournament». On day one we were asked to define a personal goal for the course beyond financial outcomes. I wrote: simplify enough that what I teach becomes accessible to ordinary people, not only «hardcore» esotericists.
The next assignment was to launch a website over the weekend. I had five sites running by then, but I couldn’t find a name that captured this new intent. Until it came: Keys of Mastery. I would hand out keys to a person’s own mastery. Bingo.
On 19 October 2010, kluchimasterstva.ru went live. Two weeks later, on 2 November 2010, the first paid seminar opened — «Dance with the Shadow». Thirty people. 80,000 rubles. The seminar method that began that night is now Trademark №917355 in the Russian patent registry.

On this English archive
This site is a translation of 1,300+ articles into English. Each English article carries a link to the Russian original at the bottom. The translations are not literal — attention is paid to the author’s voice. Structure and paragraph rhythm are preserved. Idioms are rendered into English equivalents. Proper names use standard transliteration. Technical vocabulary (chakras, energy practices, ascension lexicon) maps to established English usage in the field.
The earliest pieces date from October 2010, and the rollout follows the original chronology — the evolution of the work remains visible.
