There are more and more tasks and things to do.
You barely manage to handle one set, and another wave is already sweeping over you.
You wish you had 36 hours in a day, or you just want to give it all up.
But you can’t give up, so as not to let down your family, colleagues, or yourself.
And in the midst of spring, it has especially intensified — such is the energetic picture.
[Alena Starovoitova talks about this in detail in her video below]
What to do with information overload and time pressure? How to manage this state to maintain productivity and a good mood?
Read about it in our article.
Effective Behavior During Chaos and Information Overload
1. Write Down Your Plans
Get a notebook, or better yet — find a mobile or online app (for example, trello.com) that allows you to write down your plans.
Modern programs let you schedule tasks for yourself by the hour and by the day — nothing will get lost. Plus, they can notify you about upcoming deadlines.
This will not only allow you to gather important information in one place but also free up your working memory. You’ll no longer have to remember all your household chores and work tasks; your brain will “breathe a sigh of relief.”

At times, you may feel like you’ve lost your memory, there’s fog in your head, and the simplest mental activity causes headaches and irritation.
2. Set the Right Priorities
Simply listing your tasks isn’t enough. You also need to choose which ones are important and urgent. Where to start, what to postpone, and what to abandon altogether.
An important tip: determine the order of tasks based on your deep personal values.
For example, almost all tasks at work might be “more urgent than urgent,” but do they leave you time to be with your family, or simply to enjoy solitude and inner contemplation?
And this, by the way, is absolutely necessary for restoring your physical and psychological health, meaning it is one of your important tasks.

3. Break Down Global Tasks into Small Pieces
Write out a step-by-step plan for the biggest and seemingly “overwhelming” tasks.
It’s much easier to complete many small tasks than to tackle something immense. Plus, it’s so satisfying to check them off, one after another, from your planner…
4. Delegate Responsibility
Remember that you are not alone; colleagues or family members can help you with your tasks. And sometimes, it’s their direct responsibility.
Perhaps the information overload arose because you took on too much yourself (“Who else but me can handle this…”).
In the end, you are depriving people of their own power.
Their infantile position may be convenient, but it is always weak and dependent, and it serves no one’s good.
Come to an agreement with your colleagues and household members about who can take on which part of the tasks and responsibilities.
This also applies to children. They absolutely must have their own area of responsibility in your family.

For some people, even small requests cause internal discomfort. They think: “I’d rather do without this or handle it myself than ask someone.”
5. Clear and precise interaction with others
Your agreements with other people should be based on the principles of partnership and mutual understanding. And for this, you need attention and persistence.
If you are discussing a task, make sure that the person understood you: the deadlines, the degree of your and their responsibility, the order and nature of the task.
Otherwise, this will lead to conflicts, and the task will not move forward.
If you are setting a task for children or subordinates, help them understand you. Use the principles suggested above.
“Slice” the task into small stages, structure it by priorities, create a reminder plan together with them.
