[Photo report] Jump into the void

Just don’t ask me WHY I did this…

My husband dropped the news that we were invited to go bungee jumping, and that I needed to be ready by July 3rd ))

Since I felt neither joy nor resistance inside, I didn’t say no… I still had to survive until July. hee-hee

And here it is, July 3rd. We’re driving to Sigulda for the jump. Inside, I’m ice-cold calm: What does any of this have to do with me?!

Can’t skip a selfie (when you take a photo of yourself) in front of the bungee trailer…

That cheerful yellow trailer with a hole in the middle doesn’t look scary AT ALL at first glance.

We’re off. All packed up and wrapped in special gear, strapped to the railings inside the trailer.

I ask someone to take my picture with the river in the background… Not scary yet.

That’s where we’ll have to “dive” in.

Even the instructors themselves walk around strapped in. My mind is curious: Why are they strapped in?

The first pair “goes.” Kind of matter-of-fact, no emotion… But that’s just for now.

The view from the cabin opening… Just one step and…

I’m trying to see what’s happening with the pair that jumped… I’m starting to realize the height is oh-my-goodness… It’s slowly starting to sink in.

The smile on my face isn’t really a smile — it’s a grimace that’s glued itself on ))

At that moment, I “remembered” that I’m AFRAID of heights?! Maris says, come closer to the edge, and I’m clinging to the handrails for dear life.

Final photo before the jump. Look how tightly I’m holding onto my husband…

AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

This is us hanging down below… Thanks to the instructor who took the last 2 photos.

We’re heading to the video operator who was watching everything from the bridge. Happy to be alive…

Maris’s brother Oskars and his wife Dace, who was the one who initiated this whole thing.

After adventures like this, you absolutely have to eat. And we know just where to do it.

Delicious wild quince tea and smoked eel.

A perfect ending to an extreme evening.

Did I like it? Yes.

Will I do it again? N-O-O-O!

Well, now watch the VIDEO… Here’s what it looked like from the outside:
