Who Are You Living For?
Check if you agree with the points below:
- You try to make sure the people around you feel good and comfortable.
- A bad peace is better than a good quarrel.
- You feel that you are constantly obligated and indebted to your family.
- You agree with the statements “a mother should give her best to her children,” “living for the children.”
- You put off your own tasks and interests to help loved ones (as well as friends, acquaintances, colleagues).
- You constantly think and worry about your relationships with loved ones.
- You often decide or take on other people’s problems.
- Living for yourself is immoral, selfish, and leads to loneliness.
In our society, it’s accepted that if a person lives for others, then they are “good,” “kind.”
If you agree with most of the points, you might also think you’re doing the “right” thing.
You probably expect the same treatment from other people — and feel disappointed when you don’t get it.
