In everything related to changing your diet, it’s worth listening to the hints of your body.
But there are times when you are forced to go AGAINST the needs of the physical body… for example:
- during therapeutic fasting,
- when you go on a diet (for any purpose),
- when observing a religious fast.
In this article, you will learn how to maintain a productive routine, focus, and NOT lose your connection to the Earth in such a situation.
Why Listen to Your Body
Let’s start with a review of the basics:
Your body is a powerful tool, possessing a “body intelligence” that instantly transmits information to you about everything that is happening:
- Your body can warn you about the onset of disease symptoms.
- The body serves as a conduit for your feelings and experiences, storing your trapped emotions.
- The physical body self-regulates your diet, depending on your needs at the moment.
Provided, of course, that you know how to LISTEN to the signals it sends you.
Detailed information on how the body reacts to spiritual practices is given in the article What Spiritual Practices Can Cost You.
And then a situation arises where you make a conscious choice to go against it.
Let’s take a closer look at the processes happening and their consequences.
Fasts, Including Holy Week
“He is mistaken who thinks that fasting consists only in abstaining from food.
True fasting is removal from evil, curbing the tongue,
laying aside anger, taming lusts, ceasing from slander, lies, and perjury.”
— Saint John Chrysostom
Since Lent is currently underway, we will use it as an example for clarity, although this information applies to any fast, regardless of faith.
For reference: Lent is a 48-day fast before the celebration of Easter, the last week of which is called Holy Week and has stricter requirements.
Easter falls on April 16, 2017 (for both Orthodox and Catholics). Holy Week begins on April 10th.
The goals of Lent:
- Taming the desires of the flesh,
- Strengthening and lightening the body to receive gifts from above,
- Eradicating bad habits and passions.
Let’s start with the last one…
How are passions eradicated during a fast?
— Entertainment, spectacles, dancing, drunkenness, and debauchery are forbidden.
— Anger, hatred, and enmity are subdued.
— Confession of committed sins and communion are performed.
If we translate all this into more human terms, then during a fast you are called to think more positively, curb negative emotions, acknowledge and change habits that are harmful to you.
I.e., do all the things that, I hope, you consciously do every day!
A wonderful idea.
How are the desires of the flesh tamed and the body strengthened?
Through strict regulation of what you can and cannot eat.
What you can eat during Lent
You are not allowed to eat meat, milk, or eggs, only Lenten food (plant-based and occasionally fish).
It is required to observe moderation in eating.

Therapeutic fasting
It differs from a fast in that your thoughts, emotions, and habits are not affected.
Therapeutic fasting helps:
- cleanse the body of toxins and harmful substances.
- normalize metabolism, which contributes to longer-lasting weight normalization.
- self-recovery and healing from illnesses.
- manage your food instinct, helping to overcome food addiction and overeating.
- disconnect from the reality around you, giving your brain a full rest and relieving anxiety and worry (more of a side effect).

One of the main rules of fasting is complete absence of food.
Only with a complete absence of food can you switch to internal nutrition.
The only thing you can consume during a fast is water.
We’ve sorted that out, let’s move on…
Any diets
The diet during a diet depends on its goal, but in our research it doesn’t matter if it’s a weight loss diet or a diet for an expectant mother…
What’s important is the understanding that you are giving up your usual food for a specific goal.
And the list of “things to give up” will most likely include heavy/dense food and fats.
See the link for how to fill food with the excellent energies of perfection and light.
Consequences for a person
Well, now for the most interesting part… where all this will lead!
I draw your attention: Everything written below is relevant with a SHARP change in your usual rhythm of life.
That is, you ate everything without thinking, and then suddenly started fasting or losing weight.
Or you accumulated irritation and anger, and then suddenly decided to switch sharply to positive thinking…
YOU WILL FLY OFF… far and for a long time!
Your performance will decrease, your thoughts will scatter so much you can’t catch them.
You will feel unfocused and unable to concentrate on anything specific.
On the other hand, you will be overflowing with energy, an incredible lightness in the body will appear, there will be many realizations and revelations, because everything listed above will help open a communication channel with the higher planes.
Therefore, your main task is to establish a strong connection with the earth!

Remember and apply any/all grounding techniques!
“When you lose grounding, you seem to ‘fall out’ of reality, plunge into a world of fantasies and castles in the air, lose clarity of thinking and focus, and find it difficult to concentrate on what matters.
But, more importantly, you lose the ability to manifest, i.e., to bring into reality what you want.” Read more about the importance of grounding here.
Let me remind you of the main grounding techniques:
If you have NOT yet activated 2 very important chakras — the Earth Star and the Soul Star — do it now!
After their activation, a powerful energy channel is built in the body, evenly connecting you both to the source and to the planet’s center.
