«What difference does it make who is stronger, who is smarter, who is more beautiful, who is richer? In the end, the only thing that matters is whether you are a happy person or not» Osho
Every person has a character that is made up of certain personal qualities.
Some qualities are defined as positive, and there are those that people consider negative. These are character traits that get in the way of life and that you want to get rid of.
People prefer to fight negative qualities, hide them, bury them deep within themselves to appear better. Sometimes this doesn’t work out well, resulting in a “good grimace in a bad game.”
Such situations happen because a person resists what is natural within them.
But it is precisely this combination of positive and negative qualities that makes a person a unique individual.
It is no coincidence that a person comes into this world already with a certain set of character qualities.
Or in childhood, circumstances align so that a child manifests a certain trait within themselves, bringing to the surface the quality necessary for the soul’s development.
In this article, we will look at some common negative personality qualities. We will discuss how to use them to make your life better, more interesting, and more pleasant.
How character helps turn a current situation to your advantage
If you don’t like a certain character trait in yourself, you can apply that quality to your benefit.
- Acknowledge the presence of a negative character quality within yourself. Simply acknowledge it without judgment, without demands, without evaluation — Yes, this quality exists in me.
- When reviewing your qualities, determine what makes you happy. Don’t strive to be good, strive to be happy.
The concepts of “bad” and “good” are just an evaluation. People give an evaluation based on their perception of how much a quality harms the person’s own life or the people around them.
There are no bad or good qualities. The question is how you use your qualities.
Will you turn them into your vices or transform them into opportunities.
- Don’t forget to consider one of the main laws of the Universe – DO NO HARM.
Whatever you do, whatever you think, however you act, ALWAYS ensure that your actions are for your benefit and do not harm the people around you.
The Universe empowers those who correctly understand and follow its laws.

Laziness — will help distinguish true desires from imposed ones
This quality can serve as a litmus test for determining your true desires.
Laziness is not an obstacle when you are doing something truly important to you.
After all, when you are genuinely interested and passionate about something, you don’t need to be forced; everything comes easily and naturally.
So, if you feel too lazy to do something, it means it’s not your desire, but one imposed by external circumstances or your environment.
Let me give you a personal example.
When my child was still in school, his friends suggested he go to an entertainment event on a Saturday.
I emphasized that he could accept the offer, but since homework had to be done, the lessons would be postponed to Sunday.
Without a second thought, the child refused the offer, because the desire to be lazy on Sunday outweighed the idea of the event.
The entertainment event was not a true desire, but one imposed from the outside, by friends.
Laziness will allow you to take care of yourself and postpone those tasks that are not a priority and can easily wait.
This kind of attitude towards yourself and situations will help replenish your lost energy reserves.
In moments when you really don’t want to do something specific, allow yourself to be lazy.
Lie on your back. There is a belief that in this position, creative thoughts visit your mind.
Allow yourself to rest, to do nothing for at least half an hour. But truly do nothing at all, just lie there.
Do not use the internet or social media during such moments, do not turn on the TV; they drain your energy.
During this time, you will have time to gather your strength and then start your tasks with enthusiasm.
Plus, it’s quite possible that you will have an important realization about some long-pending issue.

Greed — a stimulus for achieving a goal
Use this negative personality trait to achieve results, as a springboard to your goal.
You’ve been dreaming of doing something exciting for a long time, but you keep putting it off.
Either there’s no time, or you have doubts, or for some other reason. You find excuses to postpone it.
Your greed will help you overcome such resistance.
Buy the necessary items or tools for this activity, and out of greed, you will definitely fulfill your desire.
For example: You want to learn to draw, but… there are always some “buts.”
Buy paints, a canvas, an easel, brushes.
You will feel sorry for the money spent; well, the good stuff can’t go to waste, and you will definitely use all the purchased supplies.
And you will get a ton of pleasure, both from the activity of drawing and from the quality of greed you displayed, which played a positive role for you.
Perhaps you’ve wanted to go to the pool for a long time, or maybe to the gym, to dance classes, or to do yoga. Buy yourself an annual membership.
Your greed won’t let you miss a single session.
This way, you will fill your life with the joy of dynamic movement, and you’ll get a side result in the form of a fit, flexible, and graceful body.
Envy — an excellent motivator for development
Envy can very well be a constructive character trait.
Use this quality as a filter to help distinguish your true need from what society imposes on you.
You want to have something you don’t have, but others do. However, what others have isn’t always a necessity for you.
Envy will help you recognize your need, help you understand what exactly you want.
For example. Your partner is always full of energy and in a good mood. And you want to be in that state too.
Think about what you envy — the fact that they have more time for rest, or that they know how to replenish their energy reserves?
What is your need? To rest more, or to do something engaging to fill yourself with strength and energy?
What are you not allowing yourself? What is stopping you from achieving this? Allow yourself to do it.
Envy is good motivation for development and achieving your goal.
Imagine the self you want to be, say, a year from now. Envy that version of yourself that matches your desires. Admire yourself.
Praise that version of yourself for all the achievements you managed to accomplish. Communicate with them and ask how they achieved everything, how they did it.
Accept that you have already done it; all that’s left is to understand HOW. Think about what you can do right now to reach the desired heights.
Start moving toward fulfilling your needs. This way, you’ll be busy creating your own unique life.

Curiosity — the “engine of progress” in your life
The word itself begs to be pronounced differently, as inquisitiveness.
You always want to know and understand a little more than you currently possess.
Isn’t that an engine of progress? And progress in your own life at that.
Curiosity won’t let you sit still and wait for who-knows-what from life or from other people. Thanks to this quality, you can always stay ahead of the curve.
To do this, you just need to direct your curiosity toward learning something new.
Be curious about how people live in other countries. This might push you to learn a foreign language or explore a different culture.
In today’s technocratic world, everything changes so quickly — new technologies, new electronics, new gadgets emerge.
Your ability to be curious and “stick your nose” everywhere will help you master new progressive professions and specialties. Or it will help you significantly improve your knowledge and skills in your current field.
This expression of curiosity will pour a new stream of life energy into your life and adorn it with new colors.
And you will never be left without a means of livelihood — everything new in the modern world is in demand.
