How nice it is to “borrow” ready-made material from my Facebook page?! Thank you to the administrator Svetlana.
As a recommendation: say all phrases in the PRESENT tense, without ‘I will’ or ‘I will try’, from the point of view of working with intention this is more correct (in Carnegie’s time they might not have known about this ))))
1. Just for today, I will be happy.
This means that, following Abraham Lincoln, I will say to myself: “Most of us are just as happy as we make up our minds to be.” Happiness comes from within; external stimuli have nothing to do with it.
2. Just for today, I will adjust myself to what is,
and not try to adjust everything to my own desires.
I will accept my family, my work, and my fate as they are, and I will try to fit in with them.
3. Just for today, I will take care of my body.
I will strengthen it with exercise, gentle care for my body, and proper nutrition. I will stop burdening it with harmful excesses. I want to make it a perfect machine for fulfilling my needs.
4. Just for today, I will try to strengthen my mind.
I will try to learn something valuable. I will make my brain work and read something that requires mental effort and concentration.
5. Just for today, I will work on improving my soul.
For this, I will need to perform three actions. I will do someone a good turn, but in such a way that no one finds out about it. And I will do two things that I really don’t want to do – just for the sake of training my will, as William James said.
6. Just for today, I will try to be a pleasant person in every way.
I will take care of my appearance, try to dress better, speak more softly, and behave more politely with others, be generous with praise, refrain from criticism and fault-finding with others – and, of course, from setting anyone on the right path.
7. Just for today, I will try to live only for today,
refraining from overwhelming myself with all my problems at once.
In these twelve hours, I can do a few concrete things, the most important ones for today, which, if I put them off, would torment me for the rest of my life.
8. Just for today, I will make a schedule for the day.
I will write down what I need to do at each specific hour. Maybe I won’t be able to strictly follow this schedule, but at least it will save me from two of the world’s worst evils – hurry and indecision.
9. Just for today, I will set aside half an hour for rest and relaxation.
It would be good if, during these quiet half hours, I sometimes think about God – this will give my life a sense of perspective.
10. Just for today, I will stop being afraid.
Least of all will I be afraid to be happy, afraid to enjoy all the beautiful things that exist in this world; I will avoid being afraid to love and to believe that I am loved too. I will think and act like a happy person – and I will feel happy.
