“Do the things you love to do, and then do them so well that people can’t take their eyes off you.”
Maya Angelou, American writer and poet
Not long ago, we covered the concept of ambition in a new light. Today, let’s continue talking about this topic.
So, you’ve turned toward your ambitions and are embracing them. What’s next?
- How do you nourish yourself with wisdom, confidence, and determination to move toward your success?
- How do you make the path easier and brighter?
I offer a few answers that help me. Read on to learn how to develop ambition.
How to Develop Ambition. 6 Steps Toward This Quality
1. Love Your Strength
“Behind every successful woman is only herself.”
unknown source
Try to love your strength, cherish your ambition, and nurture your power.
No one will do this for you. The support must come from within — from you. Don’t shift the expectation of help onto your loved ones.
They are already bewildered by what’s happening with you and are often simply not ready to accept and support you in your ambitious and bold projects.
Meditation “My Worth” — don’t seek love, support, or respect in the eyes of those around you. Remember that all of this is within you; learn to value yourself.
Allow yourself thoughts about what you want to achieve, accomplish, and where you want to go.
Don’t compete with someone else; compete with yourself.
An affirmation that helps me: “I am perfect, just as this world is perfect, just as God is perfect.”
2. Acknowledge Your Achievements and Strengths
Make a list of your achievements — things you can be proud of. Whether it’s long or short doesn’t matter.
What matters is that you remember what YOU CAN DO!
Don’t be shy about telling others what you’re proud of in yourself; build a support group.
One of my first steps into a new life was writing a resume. I wrote it not for a standard job, but for my dream job, for myself — beautiful, strong, and wise.
This is a great tool to highlight your strengths and turn your weaknesses into assets.
When I wrote such a text about myself and shared it on Facebook, I realized I had turned another page in my life and sent a powerful request and intention out into the Universe.

Every morning, you set the tone for the entire day, consciously or not, but you do it.
Why not start today by setting the tone for the whole week?
So that things go smoothly. That your efforts return a hundredfold…
3. Create Your Environment
We live in a unique world. Through social media in real time, we can see how people grow, what stages they go through, what realizations they gain, and how their entrepreneurial ideas develop.
If before we could only read autobiographies of successful people, now we have the opportunity to befriend them, communicate, share experiences, and receive support.
Surround yourself with interesting, proactive, enterprising, and open-minded people. Let your social media feed be like a flowerbed of ideas and discoveries.
Share yourself, attract interest and luck. It’s much easier to move forward in good company.
Learn to be inspired by others’ examples and admire courage and bravery sincerely and from the heart.
Send wishes of success and prosperity to everyone who asks for it or to those who are on their Path.
Try not to allow critical thoughts towards yourself or others in that moment, simply mentally wish them success and an easy journey.
Don’t think that success isn’t in the cards for you. Age, gender, and education have nothing to do with it. You can start at any time.
For inspiration, read the books by Vladimir Yakovlev, “The Age of Happiness” or “She Wanted and She Could.”
Sister Bader — a nun from the Roman Catholic community of Spokane, Washington — at 86 years old can swim, bike, and run for 16.5 hours without a break. She started sports at the age of 52.
4. Hone Your Craft
My daughter mirrors me: she got on roller skates, skated for ten minutes, and is already whining — I can’t, I don’t know how, I’ll never learn.
I ask her to practice this for at least an hour a day for a month, and then talk to me — whether she can learn or not.
I understand that this applies to me too. Catch these hints; they are very helpful!
Experts have calculated that to achieve a level of mastery comparable to a world-class expert status, 10,000 hours of practice are required — not studying the activity, but actual practice.
Investor, programmer, writer, and serial entrepreneur James Altucher writes that if you dedicate 5-7 thousand hours to a craft, it will be enough to become one of the top 200-300 in anything.
Based on this, if we start acting today, in 4-5 years we can all achieve a lot!
Even half an hour a day on a favorite activity is already good.
Arrange with your loved ones that you absolutely need personal time when no one will disturb you.
Keep Jim Collins’ “Hedgehog Concept” from the book “Good to Great” in front of your eyes, to focus on what can lead you to success.
5. Stick Your Neck Out and Come Out
If you feel the time has come — stick your neck out and come out of your little burrows, announce yourself to the world.
First, you can show up in a small and friendly company, and then you can aim for the public.
I am very glad that I wasn’t afraid and sent my first article to “Keys to Mastery.”
It’s a huge difference when you write locked posts for friends or detailed articles for a large audience. A completely different experience.
But I disagree with those who say you have to step out of your comfort zone to reach a new level.
I think you first need to enter your comfort zone, feel your strength and trust in the world around you, and only then announce yourself.

6. Learn from Children
Children are our guides into the world of fantasy and parallel realities. They are masters at building worlds out of nothing.
Don’t think that playing with children takes you away from something important and serious.
Use the chance to disconnect and step into the role of a ship captain or a wise wizard, and see what comes of it.
Remember your own childhood, what you dreamed about, and what feelings you experienced then.
I remember very well that I spent a long time thinking about what to become — a cosmonaut or a famous singer.
I always came to the conclusion that it would be a singer, because my health wasn’t great and I wouldn’t pass the medical exam (back then I didn’t know that even that could be resolved, if there was a will).
At the “Dance with the Shadow” transformation seminar, you will be able to meet your inner child to remember your most cherished dreams.
This will allow you to release blocked energy and unlock your talents.
Please be eco-friendly in expressing your ambition.
If you love ballet, practice it yourself. There’s no need to enroll your daughter in a class or shower your husband with tickets to performances.
Despite everything said about them, ambitions are subtle and personal emotions that are easy to destroy and even harder to revive.
Let your loved ones get to know their own ambitions on their own.
