We often adopt other people’s views and public opinion on various issues without even checking if that’s really the case.
When a person embarks on the path of self-discovery, it’s important to be able to distinguish illusions from truth.
Illusions create limitations that reduce the number of options for solving problems and make many of our intentions unattainable.
Want to understand what illusions are and what can help broaden your perspective? Then this material will help you.
What Are Illusions
Any illusion is ignorance!
You can be “knowledgeable” — possessing a vast flow of information, or for those in the know about spirituality — having an open channel upward, when you can tell truth from untruth.
Moreover, everyone has their own facets of truth. You can’t say that truth is universal, the same for everyone. Truths can be opposite.
Illusions are our limitations. They are a certain view of things, and for the most part, not our own.
Let’s flip it around: limitations are illusions. And if you ponder these words, you’ll understand that this is so.
Try the meditation “Expanding the Vision of Possibilities” to learn to notice what was previously inaccessible.
Broaden Your Views
To remove any illusions or misconceptions, broaden your view on many issues. Review your beliefs.
Because throughout life, we collect various beliefs, faiths, and attitudes.
And if some aspect of life hasn’t been touched by transformation, we don’t even know that we have certain limitations and illusions there.
The more information we consume, the more we learn about ourselves, the more different sides we discover. When we know ourselves, we each time gain a new perspective on things.
The mind limits our consciousness, not allowing us to see the whole picture. And that is an illusion. In some situations, seeing the whole picture isn’t even necessary.
Just allow yourself to see a little more each time.
When you encounter an old belief that limits your actions, ask yourself questions: “Is it really impossible?”, “Are there other options?”
Techniques from this article, “Expanding Consciousness: 4 Techniques for Every Day,” will help you learn to expand your consciousness.
Modern young people have a very flexible mind. If you have adult children up to 25-30 years old, take a closer look at how creatively and boldly they solve their problems.
Turn to them for help if you can’t see opportunities due to interfering limitations.
Verify Any Information
To avoid becoming a victim of deception, verify any information you come across.
The information you absorb, you later integrate and put out as your own.
If you, as a spiritual person, strive to express only your truth, don’t take things at face value, but verify before you integrate it.
When you step onto the path of spiritual development, the path of self-transformation, you stop seeing the bad in people.
When like-minded people appear, a certain circle is created, your own reality — an island, and you want to trust everyone.
By default, you see the best in people and trust them. Then you step on a rake.
There are countless examples on social media. When you see posts with images of sick children: “Reach out a helping hand, help!”
But in reality, it turns out there are special companies that fraudulently obtain these photos and then “suck out” money.
People who live in the 3D world are used to being distrustful, used to deception. So they keep their ears pricked.
Spiritual people walk the path of trust; they are focused on something else.
So if you see factual information, always verify it before you believe it.
Why “resets” happen
On the path of transformation, there are many stages of resetting, when things are lost, phones, computers burn out, contacts are lost. It’s as if you’re starting from scratch.
This happens so that you can rebuild your perspective on certain things. Such situations force you to reconsider what you believe in.
In this way, you say goodbye to your old life, and sometimes to your friends as well.
Reconsidering your views is an inevitable stage of spiritual evolution.
A “reset” happens when you hold on to old beliefs and at the same time want to change yourself.
It can be avoided if you ask yourself every time: “Maybe there is something I don’t see?”
Instead of taking the default option: someone said something, and we believed it.
Below are examples that show how many such thoughts and beliefs we have when we take others’ views on faith.

Examples of illusions from Alena Starovoytova
Example 1
There is a common opinion: “Renting an apartment is expensive! Why give money to some stranger?”
I also had a similar situation in my life, and one revelation from a businessman when he said: “In a rented apartment, I felt much more comfortable than I do now in my own, which is no smaller.”
I thought about it and calculated it on a calculator.
A rented two-bedroom apartment in Oryol costs $300. To buy a one-bedroom apartment, you need to slave away for 13 years.
And few people have the cash on hand to pay for it all at once. And that means — a mortgage, loans, and you end up paying double.
In Russian terms, you enter into bondage for 20 years (or 15), when you can’t get sick, have a child — go on maternity leave, when all your strength is thrown into this yoke, when you have no freedom, you become enslaved.
Just because your parents were sure that an apartment is the most important thing in life.
Take the “Rock Garden” meditation to see your limitations and free yourself from them.
So it comes down to a choice: live in rental apartments, move around your whole life, have the means to do so and live it up, or get into bondage just to eventually leave this house or apartment to your kids when you’re retirement age. Forget that!
I’m giving this example from the perspective that you need to check everything, each time expanding your views, never taking anything for granted: no views, no systems.
“Is it really like that?” It’s a simple question, but asking it every second is hard.
Many years ago, this became a relief for me. It’s better to allow yourself now, within your income, to live in wonderful conditions than to dream that millions will fall from the sky to buy that apartment.
You arrive in a foreign city, a foreign country, rent a car — you’re not paying some stranger, you’re allowing yourself to expand your comfort zone and feel comfortable even in a completely unfamiliar environment.
Example 2
Many women dream of getting married. And if you’re already 35-40 years old and suddenly without a man — your friends give you sideways glances. But maybe you don’t even need that.
Or the word “family.” Everyone has their own definition, their own stereotype forms. We’re used to the words “family,” “get married.”
If you change them to “a beloved man who is nearby,” suddenly everything starts to move.
It turns out there are other options.
Love affirmations will help you attract it into your life.

Allow yourself to expand your consciousness to see not just one path, but many.
And then the illusions will disappear. You will see that there are no limitations, only the illusion of limitations.
